Author's Notes

I have always nourished the idea of writing a Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA) fanfiction after watching the conclusion to the 2003 animated series, but I didn't have the creative urge at the time to start penning out my ideas. However, that has now changed. A recent event has rekindled old flames in me. I have been writing almost nonstop since then due to the influx of ideas that have been popping into my mind as of late.

Thus The Philosopher of the West was born. I had actually intended on a different title, but a friend of mine convinced me that something else would be better.

The Philosopher of the West is mostly based on the 2003 anime, but it also draws on concepts from the manga/Brotherhood along with other television series, movies, and genres that I have gotten to know. In short, my fanfic is like a salad with various toppings, so it is hard for me to say if what I am creating is a multiverse, crossover, extended universe, alternate universe, etc. It can go so many ways, and I am very pleased in the direction the story is going.

The fanfic is very much a work in progress as I do not foresee an end date for it. There is currently a lot of unpublished content that I have not released yet as I want to go back and make sure that everything flows smoothly, and because of my unconventional writing style that makes me pen things down in non-chronological order. So I ask for your patience and understanding as I work to deliver The Philosopher of the West to the best of my ability.

There are a few people whom I would like to express my thanks to. First is "Karinakamichi". Karina, thank you for your inspirational YouTube videos and theories on the Fullmetal Alchemist series. You are the person who gave me the nudge I needed to get my thoughts down on paper. Next is "Koklico". Koklico, thank you for inspiring me with your Fullmetal Alchemist fanart. "Artdirector123", thank you for writing such an eye-opening FMA alternate universe story. I also like to believe that's how things could have been had things turned out differently in the past. Last but not least, to my humble friend who wishes to remain anonymous, thank you for the brainstorming sessions that we have been having thus far. Without your help, I wouldn't be able to provide better and accurate descriptions to some of the things I want to convey to the readers.

Happy reading, folks!
